Description

This strong wallet chain is made entirely from stainless steel in the vipera berus chainmail weave and is chunky and hard wearing.

I made it by hand (with the help of a couple of pairs of pliers) out of pre-cut 8mm x 1.5mm stainless steel jump rings knitted neatly into the vipera berus pattern. It's very important to have the right sized aspect ratio (the ratio of the inside diameter divided by the wire diameter) rings for this weave, else it can be too tight and have no movement or too loose and not hold it's shape correctly. With the rings this size (AR 3.3) we have a nice strong, chunky chain that also hangs nicely. It is a very strong chain, made with strong rings fitted incredibly tightly into the weave. The fact it's very physically hard work on my hands (with that particular size ring) is reflected in the price.

I work with stainless steel as it's non-allergenic, incredibly strong, durable and wont rust or tarnish. When it gets grubby, simply wash it under the tap with a little soap and a brush.

The chain is about 12.5mm wide when it's flat and 8mm on it's shortest side. The length of the chain is 510mm (20 inches) and the length of the complete item including connecting rings, carabiner and split/key ring is 610mm (24 inches) making it a longer chain. The split ring is 35mm in diameter and the carabiner is 50mm long.

Item will be presented in a gift box.

If you'd like a shorter chain, that's no problem at all, just send me a message!

Disclaimer - While this chain is incredibly strong, if you jump out of a car when the chain is attached to you and the key is still in the ignition - your weight will be enough to stretch out and break the rings that connect the carabiner and the split ring to the chain - I'd actually go so far as to say you'd be VERY unlikely to break the actual chain in this weave with the size of rings as it is so strong.
