'Bonnie's Blessing' is one of our ChariTeas. With these teas a portion of the proceeds of every sale is donated to an organization for a particular cause.

In flavour, 'Bonnie's Blessing' is a mix of flowers and lemon, designed to assist with insomnia and sleeplessness. Additionally, the herbs used in the tea are good for relaxation and relief of anxiety. It was blended to allow for use as a tea, and also as a sachet or pillow insert.

This tea was born out of loss, out of love, and out of a need to commemorate an amazing person I am glad to have known.

In February I lost a person I admired, who inspired me, and whom I loved dearly. By all reports, she inspired most of the people who knew her, and brought light into the lives she touched.

For many years she had been fighting mitochondrial disease. When she first fell ill, the disease didn't have a name, there wasn't an understanding of it, or any research at all. In the years since, it has been identified and named, but there is no cure. It is chronic, progressive, and fatal.

I know what it is like to deal with chronic illness, including the terminal aspect. I learned how, in part, from Bonnie. Her courage helped me to maintain my own, and her strength was something she shared easily. Even with having battled this disease for well over a decade, she was one of the least cynical and most kind people I have ever known.

The charity chosen for this salutary tea is MitoAction.
