Description

Hello:

This listing is for a Viking Glass hand blown vase called a "Leaf Vase". This vase was featured in the Viking glass catalog in 1979-1980. It is model # 7601. This vase seems to have the stippled base which is considered rare in the marketplace. Indeed I found no others for sale like this one at the time of listing. The base of the vase is a round slightly scalloped leaf design. Four large veined leaves rise at the base of the vase. The amber color is darker toward the bottom of the vase, lightening toward the top. The top of the vase has the swung or stretch glass design at the rim.

Swung glass was hand blown glass that was then hand swung to lengthen. The opening was then hand-tooled, heated and polished to a smooth surface. Vases were literally swung around to produce the neck, with beautiful results.

The vase is 13 inches tall, and 3 inches wide at widest part. The base is 2 inches. At the time of production, this vase was made in red, amber and amberina. The vase is in good vintage condition being only lightly used. On the back of vase there is one small mark on the glass. It looks like a scratch in the glass. It is about 1/8 inch long. I see no other flaws in the glass. No chips. No cracks.

This is a nice piece for a collector of Viking Glass, and a nice piece for the look of mid-century modern glass. Rare in the marketplace.
