This is definitely my new favorite yarn. It's from a small mill that's devoted to sustainable practices, ranch conservation and green production. I'm very proud to offer it here & I know you'll love it.

Mountain Meadow Merino 2-ply is a very soft, very bouncy heavy worsted weight 2-ply with a slightly irregular handspun quality.

It is very soft, suitable for next-to-skin use and baby garments. It has a scrumpy hand and it is an absolute joy to knit. It has a lovely memory and really makes cables and textured work really POP! The color is a beautiful natural winter white.

To celebrate the end of winter (which has been a real tease this year!), I'm offering a free pdf of my Last Frost hat pattern with yarn purchase. It's a warm, comfy hat with a seed and sprout pattern, and it knits up from just one skein.

Each skein is about 200 yds/100g (approximate--there's some variation here, I think they're probably hand-skeined--if you order multiple skeins, I may combine two from the farther ends of the spectrum, but the total weight will always average 100g/skein). Also available in approximately 1/2 pound dyer's skeins (convo me).

About Mountain Meadow Wool...

Mountain Meadow Wool Mill is located at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains in Buffalo, Wyoming. Our fiber factory begins in Wyoming’s rugged mountain climate. Because it is so fine, Mountain Meadow Wool is silky soft to the touch, insulates much better, breathes far more effectively, and feels delightful next to your skin.

Each year, they procure the best fiber from the best growers in the West, then transform it into extraordinary yarns. They use only environmentally friendly cleansers, and non-petroleum based spinning oils. This gentle process preserves the natural qualities of the wool. Mountain Meadow Wool yarn is ultra soft and has a wonderful feel. Proudly grown on the high plains of Wyoming.

Mountain Meadow Wool Mill is committed to building a company with respect for nature, ethics, and sustainability.

For over 100 years, Basque sheepherders have grazed sheep on the plains and mountains of Wyoming. Carrying on this rural tradition, two women established Mountain Meadow Wool Company in 2002. Surrounded by the culture of ranching and of sheep, Valerie Spanos and Karen Hostetler searched for products made from the area wool. They were also concerned about the loss of this way of life with many sheep ranches closing down. These challenges turned into opportunity and they now have a working wool mill not only creating yarn from the fine wool of the area but also custom processing for growers. Mountain Meadow Wool returns 10% of the sale of finished products back to the ranchers.
