Since joining Etsy I have been fortunate enough to meet merchants from all over the world. I purchased this vintage Soviet Briefcase from an Etsy shop in Lativia. I am also expecting another interesting briefcase soon from the Ukraine. I was told this case was manufactured in the Soviet Union in the 1960's or early 1970's or as my new friend from the Latvia put it " This bag is very old and comes from former USSR, Russia 60-70s."
The most intriguing feature of this bag is the strap that comes vertically over the front flap with the name LENINGRAD - ЛЕНИНГРАД- printed in both Russian Cryllic and English Latin scripts.
This bag is in very good shape for its age. The lining is entirely in tact and the silver tone buckle functions like new. The handle shows little or no wear and it does not appear to have carried a very stressful load during its lifetime. There are no markings identifying a manufacturer. The seller said the material is "leatherette" which is another term for 'faux' leather. if so, it is a very good imitation.
This bag is the perfect size for an Ipod, small notebook. Kindle or other etype reader.
The dimensions are:
Length: 11.02 inches or 28 cm
Width: 6.69 inches or 17 cm
Height: 12.79 inches or 32.5 cm
