Description

Beggar -homeless - poor - man - child of God

"Are We All Not Beggars"
This is a 11 x 14 PRINT of an original painting by me! All proceeds go the the Utah food bank or Food and Care Coalition.

This painting was originally done in black and white paints. Every painting needs a surprise. The original had a real dime on it and there are small streaks of colored paint on the black and white paint near the hands and dime.

This art piece means so very many things and thoughts to me personally. Sometime we see beggars on the street and don't know how to help them in a healthy way. We ask ourselves ,"Can they really not work? What will they do with the money? Use it for drugs? Alcohol? We sometimes feel it may not be safe to approach or care for them or it may just reinforce their begging if we help them. I

But then we often wonder if the really need Food? Are they Hungry? Do they have shelter and a warn place to stay? Do we look them in the eye with at least a friendly hello or do we pretend we don't see them? These thoughts and feeling always make it a bit awkward for me.

Having worked with the mentally ill I understand that a lot of our homeless are handy capped in this way. Sometimes you just know when someone is really in desperate need. But most times we don't.
The dime represents these times. Do we give? A little or a lot? Where do we give? To the individual or to the places and charities that support them in healthy ways?

This painting also represents the time we are all beggars at sometimes in our lives. When we need the care of another person to SEE US and HELP US physically, mentally or spiritually.

I hope you enjoy this print!
