“Suzuran” is the Japanese word for “Lily of the Valley” - a flower which, in France, symbolises Spring. There could not be a better name for a French-designed jacket with a Japanese twist - or, rather, Japoniste, as the French Impressionists would call it.

This design borrows many elements from Japanese Yukata, the traditional “Spring kimono”, which is airy and comfortable. The collar is high and rigid, tending to stay away from the neck. There are (optional) vents under the arms, which in the original Yukata gave access to the ample sleeve “pockets” and were retained here as an element of style.

But most of all, this is a no-waste design, meaning you get to use all of your fabric - an acknowledgment of traditional pattern-cutting quest to make the most of the materials available.

I absolutely love this pattern! I know I can make it again in half the time without all the little oopsies I did. For a person who learned to sew in April 2019, I feel pretty stoked with my first piece of wardrobe I’m happy to wear to work!

I like the design of this pattern. I have the material for it, now just need to make the time to construct it!

Molto carino, forse la manica e' un po' larga, ma resta comunque un capo sfruttabile in ogni occasione e facile da cucire.
