Standard Fret Wire is Nickle Silver. Stainless Steel is available for a $20.00 premium.

Standard pickups are my PF2 humbuckers. Electrically similar to a mini humbucker, but with no adjustable pole pieces, and no backplate. The bobbins are wrapped in copper foil which shields everything and grounds the pole pieces. Usually they run between 6K and 7K ohms. Pickups are placed more or less at the guitars center of mass, close to what is normally called the neck position.

Bridges are available in Aluminum or cream colored Corian. The Aluminum is standard and a little brighter, the Corian a little warmer.

Current standard finish is a gun stock oil varnish with rottensone ground on the more porous woods like Mahogany. I normally bring the body up to a satin sheen, and the necks have the thinnest possible buildup, giving them a very fast, natural feel.. I can also do a "Barn Burst" on the lighter colored woods like poplar and pine, which is painted with milk paint and then sanded back to make it look like old barn wood.

I just received Weir Poorboy #113 last night and have had a very difficult time putting it down. Immediately comfortable..and so light! The Merbau neck feels preternaturally smooth and you can feel it vibrate throughout it's length at the slightest provocation. It's kind of crazy, really. It's an engineering marvel...so spartan and precise. It just feels good to hold, and the woods are gorgeous. I was looking for a guitar that I didn't have to constantly adjust for subtle intonation compromises and even under the most rigorous scrutiny, Boy, does it deliver! The pickup is beyond what I'd hoped. Very detailed. Full of character, really versatile.

I love this guitar. Thank you Dave, you're a genius!

I've had this guitar for several weeks now, and I am still impressed every time I play it. The meticulousness of construction is as good as any other guitar I've ever played, and it's far better than any other guitar I own. My Poorboy has stainless steel frets and an aluminum bridge, and I don't hear any issues with brightness or brashness of tone. The guitar is beautifully articulate both unplugged and amplified. Dave's communication was excellent every step of the way, and the guitar was packed very well and made it safely to me all the way from California to Florida. The guitar is fantastically beautiful, also. All of my other guitars are hanging on the wall in my office -- this one is, at my wife's request, hanging on the wall in our living room. :)
