Description

Lotéria, a traditional Mexican Bingo-like game, gets a reinvention with Lotería Cebolla Apestosa (Stinky Onion Lotería,*) a teen-produced, Chicago-themed set.

With 54 individual, Chicago related cards and six tablas (game boards) the set can be played by up to seven players, or can be used as a work of art (see last photo for creative use of the cards.)

Illustrations celebrate a range of Chicago related people, places and things, from Mayor Washington, Kanye West and the Bucket Boys, to the Bean, the Sears Tower, and the Art Institute; from the Great Chicago Fire, the Haymarket Affair, and the 2012 Teacher's Union strike, to dibs, deep dish, and Sue the dinosaur.

From brainstorming and arguing over what is special about Chicago, to designing and drawing the cards, this set was developed and produced from start-to-finish by 15 teen artists in the Visionaries program at Erie Neighborhood House in Chicago.

Each boxed set includes:

eight 9 inch x 12 inch game boards (printed on heavy cardstock)
one set of 54 3.5in x 3.5in cards
one bag of beans
one bilingual booklet that provides information about each card in both Spanish and English.

If you would like to see each of the cards in the set, or to purchase prints of the designs, please visit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/236781692/loteria-cebolla-apestosa-prints

For a discount on three sets, please visit: https://www.etsy.com/listing/237530028/loteria-cebolla-apestosa-3-set-discount

It took two weeks to receive the print, which is more of annoyance than anything. The quality of the print was not very high though. It looks as described, but it could be made with my own printer, using card stock from the office supply store. It was packaged cheaply and the print had slight bends in it, with roughed up corners. It does look as describe, but low quality, very slow shipping, and poor packaging.
