Description

These are boxes of Shaeffer's Skrip Writing Fluid, which comes in a jar. When I was reading the history on these items, it indicated that since it was called "writing fluid" instead of "ink", that indicated this product was a step better than ink. If you look at the two different boxes, you will notice that the red writing fluid says, "Shaeffer's", while the black writing fluid says "Sheaffer" on it. The company changed this logo in the early 1960s, so I believe the red was made in the '50s, and the black in the '60s. The red also indicates it has the secret ingredient "RC-35". Neither box has a zip code for its place of origin, Fort Madison, Iowa. I also read that zip codes were used beginning in 1963. The original price of each was 25 cents. Both are 2 oz. bottles. The black writing fluid bottle is empty, but there is residue in it. It is labeled #32 Permanent Jet Black. The red writing fluid bottle still is about 3/4 full. What I found most interesting about the red is that it says on the side of the box, "Under ultra-violet light, Sheaffer's RC-35 makes perfectly legible any writing that has been washed away or even eradicated." Makes me think of spy movies and disappearing ink. Both would be great for a pen collector, artist, or to add to your décor.

The price is for both bottles!

Condition: Both boxes are in fair shape. They were never heavy boxes. They are complete but have wear on the edges and corners. They are also stained a little. The black writing fluid bottle has no label. The writing on the cap is very clear and in good condition. The red bottle has a label, but it is loose. It also has some staining on it, that looks like it was greasy at one point. The writing on the cap is clear and in good condition.

Size: Bottles - 6 inches circumference, 2 1/2 inches tall. The boxes are 3 x 2 x 2 inches.

FAQs

I try to list sizes - length, height, and width in all my listings. Please look there first. If you need more information, please contact me.
I recycle when I package, if possible. I sometimes re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down. I use bubble wrap and other padding materials to help ensure safe delivery.
For most items, my prices are firm. If you are buying more than one of the same item (ex: 4 matching plates) feel free to ask about a discount, although I cannot guarantee I will be able to provide that.
I do offer some clothing in my shop. I am not a seamstress and do my best to measure each item accurately. Please contact me if there is a measurement you need that is not listed.
I do my best to research each item to find out when it was made. Sometimes I can remember the item from when I was a child, which gives me a general date range. I also use marks and tags on the items to try to provide accurate dates. If I have a unique item that I cannot find any information on, I will default to marking it as simply Vintage.
I have many items that are not yet listed. If you are looking for something specific, I may just have it.
