C O L O R
Although the globe's colors have mellowed with age, the colors are a bit brighter than what appears in the photos. The blue of the ocean is a bit more blue than what is photographed. Color may vary slightly from monitor to monitor.

Globes that are pre-1960's are becoming difficult to find while the earlier globes (1920's, 1930's, 1940's) are becoming more and more rare as they are snapped up by collectors and decorators.

C O N D I T I O N
Very Good
Globe is in overall Very Good condition. Colors on the globe are in good condition although they have mellowed with age (please see photos). The original blue for the ocean can be seen where the paper equator ribbon has been torn from the globe. Colors on globe are relatively bright although there is some fading and wear to the inks (please see photographs). Seams on the paper gores on the globe are tight with some wear to seam edges on some of the gores. Gores are beginning to separate in the North Atlantic near Canada, Iceland, Ireland, and the UK. Creasing and wrinkling of surface paper on globe (see photos). Several small paint smears present on the globe including three smears/spatters in the southwestern USA (second photo); several small scattered white paint spatters on South America; light purplish-brown stain in the mid-USSR; large white paint smear on Tibet (third photo), several small scattered white paint spatters on Australia and the South Pacific. The globe has lots of surface wear and scratches present (please see photos). Some areas of color loss present; the surface of the globe has been scratched and /or dinged to the white paper underneath the color printing. Scratches and wear are most noticeable in Australia--small dent to the center of the Australian continent--and in the Pacific Ocean with some deep scratches in the South Pacific near French Polynesia. Heavy wrinkling of the surface paper of the globe in the Mediterranean; the Baltic; and the northern USSR. Surface scratches that stretch from the South Atlantic, across south Africa and into the Indian Ocean (third photo). The globe's varnish has mellowed and yellowed somewhat and gives the globe a "vintage" look. The yellowing of the globe maybe the result of nicotine staining and the globe does have a faint odor of cigarette smoke--although I am hoping this will dissipate with an airing. Varnish has also developed a fine craquelure. The varnish has been scratched through to the paper in several areas, exposing the brighter colors under the discolored varnish (please see photos). Globe has original metal time zone disk. The time zone disk has scratched the surface of the globe where the disk has been moved. Globe retains original paper equator ribbon. Equator ribbon has wear and some tearing. One small (1.5-2 inch) area where equator ribbon is missing (first photo).

Metal stand is in overall Good condition. Globe spins freely. The arm of the globe is heavy and thick. One side of the arm has heavy wear and oxidation present (fourth photo). The oxidation does not appear to threaten the overall structural integrity of the globe. Square metal base has been painted with a faux wood-grain finish. Area of surface wear and scratching present on painted finish of base. Several patches of rust to the metal base (last photo). The rust has begun to discolor the paint (last photo), resulting in an uneven color. Underside of globe has surface wear and surface scratches in the paint consistent with storage. Base has original four rubber feet on underside of base. A piece of masking tape with the text "This belongs to Mrs. Hahner" is stuck to the underside of the metal base. One side of the base is open (third photo). This opening was originally intended for an atlas; the atlas is now missing and is not included. Globe displays incredibly well.

- Shipping price is set for fully-insured USPS Parcel Post. Please allow 6-8 business days for your package to arrive once shipped. This estimate is for the continental US; shipping to Alaska and Hawaii and international destinations will take longer. Shipping time for international customers vary and depend upon the package's destination. International orders: please allow up to eight weeks for your package to complete its journey and clear customs.
- Priority shipping is available for this item, but due to the globe's size, Priority shipping will be MORE EXPENSIVE! If you would like USPS Priority Mail please contact me PRIOR to purchasing.
- Due to the dimensions of the globe, shipping to Alaska and Hawaii will be an additional $20.00 for a total shipping cost of $49.99. Please contact me prior to purchase and I can adjust the shipping price for you.
- The USPS is subject to weather and volume of mail. The expected delivery dates are estimates provided by USPS. These estimates are usually accurate but occasionally a package may arrive a little earlier or a little later than the given estimate. Please don't be alarmed if it looks like your package has taken up permanent residence in the Denver/Aurora sorting hub. I have found the USPS to be very reliable. However, they may not always scan a package along its shipping route; this is especially common with larger and odd-shaped packages.
- Tracking is included in the shipping price for customers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and most EU countries
- Insurance is included in the shipping price. Shipping is provided by the USPS (for domestic Priority Mail) and by U-PIC insurance (for items shipped domestic USPS Parcel Post and international orders).
- Due to the purchase price of the globe, this will ship with Signature Confirmation. You will NEED TO SIGN FOR YOUR PACKAGE IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE DELIVERED. This is a requirement of the insurance company that I use and it prevents expensive items from being left on porches, entryways, or other exposed areas.
- Shipping is a bit on the high side due to the dimensions of the globe. The shipping price listed is a realistic estimate. A refund on shipping overages of $2.00 or more will be issued via original payment method. I will only discount shipping if multiple items are purchased. Multiple item shipping discount has already been calculated and no coupon is required. Please do not ask me to discount shipping when purchasing one item. Please do not make an "offer" on shipping. The shipping price is a realistic estimate based on the item's dimensions.

- International shipping is available to some countries. Please contact me for a shipping price if your country is not listed. VAT and customs taxes may be added to any international purchases; this is especially true for buyers in the UK and in Scandinavia. International buyers must be familiar with their country's shipping laws and regulations. I have no control over the duties and taxes that your country may charge you once the package has cleared customs. If you have any questions, please contact your local post office. This handy website will help you calculate the cost of potential import duties: http://www.dutycalculator.com
- Any import fees, brokerage fees, VAT, etc. are separate charges determined by your country's import laws. These fees go directly to your government. I do not receive any of these fees.
- If you do not claim your package for any reason (duties, custom fees, etc.) and your package is returned to me unopened, I will only refund you the cost of the item and that will only be if the box was returned in unopened condition and the item purchased is in the exact same condition as when I posted the package. Shipping fees will not be refunded as I fulfilled my obligation in packaging and shipping the item and have already paid for the non-refundable postage. Please only purchase the item if you are familiar with your country's import duties and are comfortable paying any additional VAT, taxes, of handling fees that YOUR country will charge.
- Due to problems with slow or non-delivery I am unable to ship to Mexico and Brazil.
- UK customers: purchases totaling £15 or more are subject to the current VAT rate. An additional brokerage fee/customs charge of £8 may also be applied to your purchase. These fees are separate from the shipping price from this shop and are your responsibility. For any questions regarding import fees and the current VAT rate, please contact your local Post Office or visit http://www.royalmail.com/

Good Things to Know:

-Please read my shop policies section before purchasing. If you have any questions or concerns regarding my items or policies, please email me before purchasing.

-Please check the photos for condition issues. If you would like additional photos or have any questions, just ask!

-Just a reminder, Etsy defines "vintage" as any item that is 20 years and older. Etsy does not allow the sale of items less than 20 years old unless the item is handmade by the seller. So, almost all the items in my shop are 20 years or older and were most likely pre-owned and pre-loved. These items are not new but are pretty great.

Happy Shopping!
