Victorian Carved Toleware Button Necklace circa 1880's by The Salvaged Bead

Favorite

Description

This lavaliere style necklace showcases an antique highly detailed hand-carved tin button from the Victorian era, circa 1880's. This gorgeous button has been set into a vintage garland edge brass setting & was hand-made using a toleware or a "japanned" process (black painted metal with a carved motif to allow the silver to come through as the design).

Set with oxidized brass & silver plated filigree accents, cable chain, and faceted Czech glass beads, this gorgeous Lavaliere style necklace hangs approximately 11 inches, and is certain to strike up a great story!

Perfect for any season, to wear into the office, a dressy occasion, or a night on the town! Own a piece of history, and pass it down as a family heirloom, this necklace is sure to be an eye-catcher.

Each piece is unique and crafted with true artistry. I very much enjoy both the "picking process" (the hunt) to research and find the right pieces to marry together, as well the designing aspect of this art form.

My jewelry designs mix vintage and contemporary beads and components. The cabochons and buttons are original and I take special to care to choose the right setting and overall features to create an exceptional wearable piece of art!

Additional policies

Each reclaimed bead or cabochon goes through a cleaning process to ensure sanitation, luster and brilliance as originally intended. The cleaning process usually consists of hand washing in warm water with a mild anti-bacterial soap.

For antique or vintage buttons (rhinestone set or vintage metals that I am rarely able to find, i.e. most are reproduction), these are purposely NOT cleaned to retain their aged patina and antiquity.
