These 2 Frozen Charlotte Miniature Bisque Bonnet dolls I believe were from Germany in the 1870’s. The lady I got them from explained they have been in her family this entire time and they were brought to the States from Germany and were her Mothers.

According to Wiki, the name comes from the American folk ballad Fair Charlotte, which tells of a young girl called Charlotte who refused to wrap up warmly to go on a sleigh ride because she did not want to cover up her pretty dress; she froze to death during the journey

The bigger glazed Charlotte doll is in excellent original condition. I have an appraisal done in May 1982 which suggests her value at $235.00, and dates her as 1970. She shows a little wear on the back of her head and on her bottom which is common…and does not affect the value. She has no chips or cracks. She measures 3.5 inches. Her face is nicely painted and she has black painted hair, blue eyes and pink cheeks. She has molded boots her feet are spread a little, arms are bent. She has a small black spot under the glaze I think happened at the time of painting her face. It looks like paint blop to me.

The Frozen Charlotte Bonnet doll is the smaller bisque doll and is a wire jointed penny doll. She is un-tinted. She has molded bonnet on her head, bangs, a bow under her chin and molded unpainted face. She measures 2” and is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks.

Both dolls are unmarked.

Ship to lower 48 Insurance is optional but available for an additional $3.15
