Dimensions

Necklace length: 21 Inches

This colorful handmade necklace features an eye-catching spiral pendant, red coral pearls, white quartz, turquoise magnesite and howlite, and copper-colored Japanese seed beads. The Mykonos spiral pendant was made in Greece; it was cast from lead-free metal, which was then dipped in copper and patina-finished. I love the rustic look of this focal. The rather wavy spiral design itself reminds me of an ancient treasure from under the Mediterranean Sea. It also evokes the waves of the water and the turning of our world and our lives. (For more on spirals, see way below.) It seemed quite natural to enhance such a focal by using colors associated with the sea, including red, turquoise, and white.

The shiny red coral pearls are from Swarovski (made in Austria; 8mm, 6mm), and really make the necklace pop! The turquoise color is provided by dyed magnesite smooth-edged ovals and heishi-style howlite (6mm thick). Lovely quartz beads offer the white hue, in both rondelle and round shapes (4mm). This wonderful piece also includes copper glass seed beads (Japanese), which I've used as spacers. There are two tiny seed beads as well, in blue, which are hidden under the connector loop (bail) of the pendant, to give it better spacing on the beading wire. The latter is high-quality 49-thread wire from Beadalon, and made in the USA. Tiny TierraCast copper-plated bead caps (made in the USA) are included here as well.

The clasp used here is a copper-tone hook and eye, with sweet leafy detailing that reminds me of certain types of seaweed. A close up of the clasp is inset into one of my photographs for this listing. As the ruler alongside it indicated, the hook is around 3/4 of an inch in length.

The necklace is designed with the spiral pendant at the center and flanked by a split pair of copper seed beads and pair of larger coral pearls nestled between the bead caps. Then on either side of the necklace strand are the following bead groups:

1. A trio of turquoise howlite heishi beads between a pair of seed beads
2. Five quartz rondelles between a split pair of smaller coral pearl rounds
3. A repeat of the first bead group
4. A trio of large oval magnesite flat beads separated by copper glass seed beads; these are also flanked by split pairs of seed beads and pearls
5. Two coral pearls between a pair of seed beads and spaced by a seed bead
6. 10 small white quartz rounds
7. Another seed bead and small pearl round

The necklace is finished off on either side with double sterling silver crimps under copper-plated crimp covers. The sterling crimps are "heavy" (thicker than regular crimps) and secure the beading wire. A seed bead comes at the very end of the strand with pure copper wire guards, which protect the beading wire. Then on one side is the clasp hook and on the other, the clasp eye. They are both connected to the necklace strand with double copper-plated oval jumprings from TierraCast.

The length of this marvelous piece is 21 inches.

With evocations of the Mediterranean, and inspired by the oceans and seas at large, this is the perfect necklace for anyone who loves the sea and the meaningful symbol of the spiral. It was carefully handmade by me with best wishes for its lucky destined wearer. It will come ready for gifting to someone special—perhaps yourself! :)

About the Spiral Symbol

The spiral is such a special shape, with an amazing dynamic quality that expresses movement and growth. The spiral can be seen in the form of immense cosmic galaxies as well as in the relatively tiny whorls of a human fingerprint and the microscopic structure of DNA. We see spiraling shapes in certain seashells and plants, and since ancient times, the human imagination has found symbolic meaning in spirals in and across a wide variety of cultures. Possible interpretations of spirals as symbols include growth, fertility, the journey through life, time and its passage, the journey beyond life, the sun, protection against evil, and infinity. In every sense, the spiral is a positive symbol!

Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.

I like to ship quickly, usually 1 or 2 days after payment unless it's a weekend or holiday. Please ensure your shipping address is current.

U.S. ORDERS: I ship USPS First Class w/Tracking. If you want to purchase insurance or upgrade, please contact me.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: After many years of shipping internationally, I am temporarily ceasing such shipments.

However, if you live outside the U.S. and would like to buy something, contact me. I will do what I can to help. Be aware that any tariffs, customs fees, and surcharges are paid by the buyer.

Note that shipping is now very costly for USPS First Class International, which is what I would normally use. Also, if you live in the EU, I do not have GDPR policies at the moment.
I sincerely want you to be happy with your purchase.

Returns are accepted if you contact me within 7 days after delivery to you. I expect to receive the item no later than 2 weeks after delivery. If this timeframe is problematic for you, contact me before buying. Also, I do allow extensions for special holidays such as Christmas and Valentine's Day, as some people buy early, me included!

For All Items: I will refund for the purchase price minus original shipping cost.

You are responsible for return shipping with tracking (U.S.). Items should be in their original condition, with the original wrapping and packing materials. Extra items, like jewelry cards, gift bags, boxes, freebies, should be included.
Non-receipt: I will do my very best to help you if items go astray. Tracking provides information on the item's routing to its destination, and I always ship directly from the post office rather than relying on postal pick-up. Again, please be sure that your shipping address is CURRENT.

Damage: I pack orders well to minimize any problem in this area. However, if your purchase arrives damaged, contact me immediately. I will do my very best to help.
I accept PayPal and Etsy Payments. Please be aware that even if you are not a member of PayPal, you can securely use it to pay for your purchase with a major credit card.

Payment must be made within 24 hours of purchase or the order will be cancelled.

To Rhode Islanders: Sorry to say, but by law I must apply 7% sales tax to your purchase and pass it on to "the governor."

Buyers from other states may also be charged state sales tax. In this case, your tax payment is determined and handled by Etsy, not me.
Yes, I am always happy to accept a custom order! Whether or not I require a deposit, full amount, or neither will depend on the nature of the order. I have done a number of such orders elsewhere with no deposit or purchase required, as I knew I could simply add those items to my inventory if the customer decided not to purchase. (Customers always did purchase them, though.) I always show photos of custom orders to the customer.
If you are buying a gift for someone and have used that person's address for shipping, please let me know at the time of ordering - I will be happy to include a complimentary notecard in which is written whatever message you would like to send.

Of course, I am always happy to send to that person's address. Just please make sure it is CURRENT. Thank you!
