This is a HELPFUL luxury, but if you are going to make rya rugs, why not splurge on one little item that will make your life so much easier. Full disclosure: You can make one yourself, but it is a lot of work--just ask my husband. They are totally functional and appreciated by everyone who buys them...just read the reviews!

My grandfather, Bill Lundgren, of Lundgren Rya used to make these. I've used mine (made by Grampa) for decades, and now we are making them for you--or to be totally honest--I'm having my husband make the like my grandfather did. If you are working on a rya rug, you will have several or dozens of needles loaded with strands of yarn. It can get messy if your needles, not in use, fall onto the floor or between the couch cushions.

Today, I have various woods for you to choose from--all the same price. Black Walnut, Western Red Cedar, and Tulip Poplar. (The cherry blocks have sold out.)

A fourth choice is a block with knots or "character" which might have a crack (a sturdy crack!). These are the choice blocks for some people and I won't send them out unless you ask for them. They are pretty and as functional as all the "perfect" blocks.

If you are new to rya rug making, please watch my 10 min. video if you haven't already seen it: http://youtu.be/trl3V5Q2kG4 Watch how I design, thread my needles, and knot.

I admit that making rya is not an inexpensive craft, but for the price, the threading block will save you LOTS of time and simply give you an even MORE pleasurable experience as you knot your rya.

NOTE: Many of you have been waiting patiently for my book, Rya Rugs--Design and Make Your Own. It is now available here in my Etsy shop. It is a must have if you really want to enjoy making ryas to the max or want to design your own. Sign up for my newsletter, and you will learn a lot about rya from many rya enthusiasts.
