Description

Wrestling Sculpture, Bronze Greek Athletes Statue, Ancient Greece Olympic Games, Wrestlers, Metal Sculpture, Art Decor, Museum Replica
Wrestling athletes
Cast in solid bronze with verdigris patina

The statue is inspired from archaeological exhibits of the Greek museums and sites.

Height : 4.2 inches / 11 cm approx.
Width : 8 inches / 20 cm approx.

Greek wrestling was a grappling combat sport practised
by the Ancient Greeks.
During competition and training, athletes were usually
naked and covered with olive oil to keep off the dust.
Greek wrestling was the most popular organized sport
in Ancient Greece, and it was the first competition to be added
to the Olympic Games that was not a footrace.
It was added in 708 B.C. This event was also part of the pentathlon.
Wrestling was regarded as the best expression of strength out
of all of the competitions and was represented
in Greek mythology by Heracles.

As this item is hand made, measurements, surface texture and
verdigris patina may vary slightly.
