American is a popular pattern that has stood the test of time. It was orginally produced by the elegant glassware company Fostoria, which closed down in the 1960's The Indiana Glass company and Colony have also produced this great optical pattern. The Indiana and Colony pieces are distinguished by the "Whitehall" addition to the name.

These are Whitehall glasses. They have a wonderful shot of color in the ruby flashing along the glass's rim. They are in great shape and hold 12 ounces. It's a thick and sturdy glass, very usable for everyday. There are no chips or cracks and the tumblers stand 6 inches tall. I DID recently discover some "flash" loss along the very edge of the glass's rims. The color loss is minimal, and you need to really look for it, but it does exist.

This pattern has ALWAYS remended me of ice, and with the ruby flashed rims, they would be GREAT for holiday use at Christmas!

I would recommend hand washing to help maintain the ruby finish along the top.
