Paper Quilled Wheat Gold Pendant - 1x2" wooden domino tile necklace
Description
Paper Quilled Wheat Gold Pendant
Quilling, or paper filigree, is the art of taking thin strips of paper and curling or coiling them into shapes that can be assembled and arranged to make figures that are then applied to cards or jewelry or used as wall art. It is an old craft that is making a comeback and I, too, have embraced the renaissance.
I rolled the elements in this pendant on a quilling tool and then arranged them into these artistic shapes on a thin wooden tile, 1" x 2", 1/8" thick. To my mind, this would make an excellent necklace for the bride, given the elegant champagne-gold and ivory colors, as well as the symbolism behind the wheat motif: love, abundance, fertility and prosperity.
All pieces have been solidly attached to the tile and sealed with a water-resistant gloss. The pendant is completed with a gold-tone bail and hangs from a contrasting 24" antique brass chain. There is no casing or resin surrounding the pendant. The design stands on its own and maintains a delicate appearance, while being sturdy enough for daily wear.
That said, you should treat this pendant as an art piece and not be too rough on it. It will survive a quick trip through a light storm, but should be removed before swimming, bathing or sleeping. The paper, adhesives and glazes are all acid-free, so the piece will continue to bring on smiles for many years, with the appropriate care.
If you admire the design but not the colors, I am happy to make another in a scheme of your choosing. Just convo me and let me know what interests you. I'd be happy to make these as wedding favors, holiday or birthday gifts or just as a special pick-me-up for you.
Please note that all computer monitors display color a little differently. As such, the pictures displayed may not exactly match what you see with the pendant in hand, but they have been adjusted to the best of my ability.
Thanks for looking!
