Description

ABOUT THIS STYLE:

The spirit of Edwardian science and exploration in a durable custom suit.

Classic patch pockets that mirror the angled front placket and an Edwardian contoured waistseam that shapes around the body for a fitted and flared silhouette.

An ultra high armhole and minimal shoulder structuring allows for tons of movement.

The result is a jacket that is perfect for all day wear but still has the trimmest possible fit.

This jacket is then paired with a slim fit pant without a front crease for a look that is both more sporty and more streamlined.

The piece is pictured in a classic medium weight wool flannel that is 1/3 heavier (and lasts twice as long) as jackets that you will find in the store.

*****The price on this listing includes a pant and a jacket that is either unlined with satin piped seams (in any color) or a fully lined version. The pieces are Made-to-Measure in any size. The listing DOES NOT include a muslin prototype which is included with our higher priced "1909 Bespoke" versions and is available for an additional charge---you can read more about the muslin option in the listings for our 1909 Bespoke Suits.

----Luxury minded clients should consider fabrics like doeskin from Hainsworth---which is woven in the UK by the mill that makes the cloth for the royal guard-----handwoven Harris tweeds, or 12oz worsted wools from Scabal. These fabrics add to the price.

EDITIONS '36:

We call these individually handmade jackets our "Editions '36" blazers, as they are inspired by workman's and sporting jackets of the 1930s and are sewn on beautiful mid-century machines that we have restored.

This means that they are often unlined and unstructured and feel more like a shirt jacket or denim jacket than a padded and canvased suit jacket. They are perfect for work, sport, and relaxation.

We hand-make all of our pieces here in our studio in Denver, CO. Out here many of our clients are very active and these are durable jackets with an active fit. These jackets have a signature sleeve style with a very high armhole that is a hybrid of a sport jacket sleeve and a very fitted shirt sleeve.

When I approached AJ for this custom Ike jacket, I was reading a biography on Dwight Eisenhower and felt the curiosity to design my own Ike jacket. Recently, I received the jacket from AJ. Honestly, I feel like leaving 5 stars does not even do the jacket or AJ's craftsmanship justice! It's just such a beautiful jacket and so well constructed with care! The wool fabric is so sturdy yet comfortable and the entire jacket is warm yet light. Easily my new favorite jacket for spring and autumn!

Although the process from design to finish took over a season, I think every second is worth the wait because of AJ's patience and friendly service. Not only does AJ listen to the customer's needs but he always answers with excellent advice and suggestions that helped me throughout the process. I highly recommend AJ's shop! Thank you!

I cancelled the order and let him keep the deposit. He didn't "get it". The final straw was when he pretty much let me know I was being "difficult" so I backed off and waited two weeks - no communication. When I contacted him, it was obvious my project had been left untouched the whole time. When it be clear I was going to have to spoonfeed him the whole project, I gave up. It was my first etsy purchase and I have been left older and wiser.

MacheteNSons responded

I sent Kevin 7 initial options for a velvet collar trim. When he didn't like my the colors, I sent him links to 100s of more options and offered to mail him swatches. Unfortunately, he resented that he would need to "spoonfeed" us all of the details and that we just didn't "get it". If a client doesn't like the fabrics we send, we will keep sending links and mailing physical swatches until he finds what he wants. We are used to "difficult" clients and projects - that is just what we do :) But if a client both doesn't like my suggestions - dislikes having to choose a fabric himself from a very large selection - and additionally doesn't want a refund, but just wants to teach me a "lesson", there is nothing left to do. Ordering custom clothing and choosing your own fabrics can be a lot of work!

This shop is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to crafting masterpiece jackets. I have no complaints at all on this custom order. AJ stayed in touch and responded in a timely manner as well as provided expert advice on materials for this jacket.
My first custom order and definitely not my last. If you need a masterpiece jacket from a master craftsman look no further.
