Description

PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT COAT ANY OF MY OPALS OR JEWELRY. TO ME, THAT MAKES IT "TREATED" AND NOT NATURAL. ALSO, BE AWARE THAT COATING JEWELRY FOR THE SAKE OF SLOWING DOWN THE TARNISHING PROCESS OF THE METAL IN JEWELRY, MAY DAMAGE THE OPAL OVER TIME. ALL MINE ARE "UNTREATED" AND I FIND A POLISHING CLOTH OR USING A SOFT TOOTHBRUSH TO CLEAN THE JEWELRY WORKS JUST FINE. ALL MY OPALS ARE COMPLETELY NATURAL AND HAVE NOT BEEN TREATED IN ANYWAY.

DESCRIPTION:

Louisiana Opal is one of the rarest gemstones in the world!

THIS LISTING IS FOR A RECTANGLE SHAPED PIECE OF VERY RARE LOUISIANA OPAL. THIS GORGEOUS OPAL WEIGHS IN AT 49.5 CARATS. THIS OPAL HAS TONS OF FIRE!!! IT DISPLAYS AMAZING BIRGHT, VIVID COLORS OF BLUE, VIOLET/PURPLE, YELLOW, AND GREEN. THE FIRE/COLORS GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND HAS AS MUCH ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE PICTURES WERE TAKEN INDOORS AND I WASN'T ABLE TO PICK UP ALL THE COLORS AND FIRE. IF I TRY TO TAKE THE PICTURES OUTSIDE, THERE IS TOO MUCH GLARE. OUTSIDE, THE AMOUNT OF FIRE AND THE COLORS ARE JUST BLINDING. IT IS READY TO PUT IN A SETTING, WRAP, OR PLACE IN A COLLECTION. THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL PIECE. THE PICTURES DON'T DO MY OPALS JUSTICE. THERE IS COLOR ALL OVER MY OPALS. THE CAMERA JUST WOULDN'T PICK UP ALL THE COLORS/FIRE. I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE DOZENS OF PICTURES TO CAPTURE ALL THE COLOR/FIRE OF EACH OPAL. THE COLORS OF LOUISIANA OPAL MAGNIFIES IN INTENSIFICATION AND ABUNDANCE WHEN WARMED. WEARING NEXT TO SKIN OR UNDER LIGHTS WILL REALLY MAKE THE FIRE COME ALIVE (MORE THAN WHAT THE PICTURES SHOW).

MEASUREMENTS:

50mm x 37mm

The Louisiana Opal is EXTREMELY RARE. Because of the makeup of the Louisiana Opal, it does not require any treatment or backings to make it stable, and therefore is totally natural unlike most other opals. The first and only mine was opened in the late 1980s' in Vernon Parish Louisiana (the only place on earth where this beautiful Opal was found). The mine was called the Louisiana Opal Exchange Mine, or better known as, The Hidden Fire Opal Mine. The mine was only in operation from 1989-1993 and was shut down due to disagreements between Leasees, Landowner and other parties. The two men who founded the mine kept the location such a secret, that most people that lived in Vernon Parish then and now, don't even know where the mine was located. Today, the property is leased, but NO digging is permitted and the mine was covered up so well that there are no traces of the mine left. What was mined when the mine was open is all that remains in the market today (which is very little). I am lucky enough to live in Vernon Parish, so I was able to get my hands on some. You can be assured that the stones I have listed are the real thing. This Opal is very unique to this area and as of today, not found anywhere else in the world. The stone in this listing is so vibrant with metallic looking colors. I tried to take pictures, but they didn't come out like I had hoped. Not all the colors came out in the pictures. I think that you can still get an idea of colors. The white spots on the stone that show in some of the pictures is just the reflection of the light.

If you are not familiar with this stone, I encourge you to look it up online to learn more. All my Opal will ship with shipping insurance to protect both the buyer and myself, and I (seller) will pay for the shipping as well as the insurance.

This is a must have for anyones collection and would also make a perfect gift!
