Description

This lovely botanical artwork is printed on relatively strong paper that has a slight shine to it.
The text on the reverse is unrelated, and does not shine through.
size of book plate (including margins): 7.5 x 10 inches (19,5 x 26 cm)

The print has been carefully removed from an out of print calendar volume, published in 1985. It would look great framed on its own, or displayed in a group.

I also have the other months of this collection for sale - please use the link below:

This series of prints depicting the flowers that bloom during each of the twelve months were first published 1730 in London.
They are based on the work of Robert Furber (1674–1756), a British horticulturist and author, best known for writing the first seed catalogue produced in England. Furber's most notable work was ‘Twelve Months of Flowers’. The book was written as a catalog of plants and seeds, and featured twelve detailed engravings of seasonal plants in bloom. Henry Fletcher produced each of the twelve hand-colored engravings from paintings by Pieter Casteels. Each plant was numbered, with a list of the corresponding species names provided. More than 400 different species of plant were featured.
The prints are part of the collection of the Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, an American estate and museum in Winterthur, Delaware. As of 2011 it houses one of the most important collections of Americana in the United States of America. It was the former home of Henry Francis du Pont (1880–1969), a renowned antiques collector and horticulturist.

No. All prints on offer are original vintage or antique bookplates/maps, sourced from vintage publications.
Place your prints on shady walls, out of direct sunlight, to prevent them from fading.
