Publishers and their craft!

Publishing houses around the country, between the 1840s and 1930s had
a grip on Americans much the same way downloading YOUTUBE videos
has today.
The publishers were the 'right hand of God' in the entertainment field,
and held the pulse of society, and were also able to master the art of
advertising. Most publishers had their backgrounds in that field to begin with.

Advertising in seed catalogs and The Bee Keeper Monthly, along with
countless quips in local newspapers, had the finesse to know the patrons
would flock to their shops to keep up with the newest 'rage' in the industry.

Be it Minstrels, Patriotic, or hymnals..they were the imusic of the turn of the century,

Simple folks to the wealthy owned some sort of musical equipment, and made good
use of their spare time off at the end of the day or when entertaining friends and family.

After all there was no Netflix, No Hulu, no cable.

And having the 'LATEST and most POPULAR' music sheets was a MUST!
The WHO'S WHO of any town, knew where to get the latest hit.

From Tin Pan Alley in New York, to Boston, Chicago and Cincinnati, all had major publishing
houses that rival any online store you find music at today.

The fascination with sheet music lives on ,whether you are adorning your walls with this gorgeous art
from the past, or just collecting these magnificent historical documents to be preserved.
