DESCRIPTION:
We came across this rare antique pin and, because it was still in very good condition, decided to purchase it for our stores. We were enchanted by the lady's portrait, hand painted and so refine. The fact that it is mounted on an 18 carat solid gold frame only added to our desire to acquire this unique piece of erstwhile jewelry.
The frame is in the rococo (baroque) style ---very 18th century, but often imitated in the early 19th.
This is a collector's item that can nevertheless be worn and appreciated, since it is in very good condition. Of course, it is stamped for 18K solid gold. This is a genuine original piece of fine jewelry. Enjoy!

*Information on gold jewelry:
- 24K gold is pure gold. (it is not really used in jewellery because it is too soft and not practical for daily wear.)
-18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold. This level of fineness is used extensively in French and Italian jewelry and in most quality pieces)
-14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold. (It is used extensively in the US)
-12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
-10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum standard that can be called "gold" in the United States.
Antique jewelry and rare items often contain the lower level of fineness, but their value is based on a myriad of other factors.
