This elegant bag design allows a variety of options for combining colors and fabrics. The brown bag in this tutorial is made of three fabrics - two exterior, one lining plus vegan (faux) leather. The beige bag is made of only one exterior fabric, one lining fabric and vegan leather. You can skip the leather and make even more simple version with one exterior fabric and one lining fabric.

The bag features:
- one large exterior lined slip pocket on the front side of the bag, decorated with a tassel.
- one main interior compartment (lining) with one slip pocket, which can be divided in two sections and one zippered pocket.
- the bag closes with a magnetic snap.

Sizing / Approximate measurements:
The bag is 15 inches (38 cm) wide, 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cm) deep and 12 1/2 inches (32 cm) high. Handle drop is 9 inches (23 cm). Handles’ length is adjustable and can be easily changed if desired when cutting the fabrics.

***
Basic Skills Necessary:
You should already know how to use sewing machine.

Materials:

Fabrics (Option 1) if width is 44” or
140 cm for the version from the tutorial:
- 2/3 yard (60 cm) main exterior fabric
- 1/3 yard (30 cm) accent exterior fabric
- 1/3 yard (22 cm) vegan (faux) leather
- 2/3 yard (60 cm) lining fabric

Fabrics (Option 2) if width is 44” or 140 cm for a simple version of the bag (one exterior fabric and one lining fabric, no vegan leather):
- 1 yard (100 cm) exterior fabric
- 2/3 yard (60 cm) lining fabric

For both bag options you’ll also need:
- matching threads
- 1 magnetic snap
- 1 decorative tassel 3-4“ (8-10 cm) long with a loop
- 12” (31,5 cm) piece of 1 1/4" (3 cm) or similar smaller width flat elastic band
- 7” (18 cm) regular zipper for the inside pocket
- 1/8 yard (10 cm) interfacing for the zipper and magnetic snap

- *optional* 14” (35 cm) of headliner (or Soft and Stable) if width is 54” or 140 cm for the body and the gusset exterior pieces if you want to add support and structure to your bag and to avoid the slouchy look.
- *optional* 1/3 yard (30 cm) of fusible batting or alternative interfacing of your choice for the exterior pocket and the handles if your fabrics are of quilting weight.

You Will Also Need:
- scissors
- tailor's chalk (or erasable fabric marker)
- sewing machine with a zipper foot
- iron & ironing board
- measuring tape
- pins
- printer and regular printing paper
- scotch tape
- seam ripper
- crochet hook
- safety pin
- wonder clips or binder clips (if you are going to use vegan leather)
