Description

Lapis Lazuli with Garden Lights ORIGINAL watercolor painting 5 x7 on cold pressed 140 lb. watercolor paper.

This painting comes packaged with ivory double mat and protective cellophane sleeve. It is packaged to protect from damage/bending with sturdy cardboard and foam board.

This lapis lazuli came to our birdfeeders one spring. After several days of rain, when we were wishing for some sunshine, this beautifully colored bird showed up and ate in spite of the rain. The color reflections on the light bulbs show hints of working wet pigment on wet paper. The fine filaments within the bulbs are described with tender brushstrokes. The soft, loose background was done quickly with little fussing. Allowing the pigments to mingle without tight control is unpredictable. Here the unique qualities of watercolor really shine. The body of the bird is soft and loose with lovely mixes of pigment to show the brilliant colors of the feathers. I work in layers of color, beginning with soft washes that are built up until the end stages require darker mixes and more tight control with finer brushes. I really love the impact of the pigment mixes and how they play off each other. I enjoyed painting to capture the moment this little visitor stopped and hope you'll enjoy having it as yours.

Returns & exchanges

If for some reason there would be damage in transit, please contact me and we will work together to take care of the situation.

Shipping policies

My work is shipped by USPS, packaged carefully with foam board and cardboard to prevent bending or other damage while in transit. Insurance included. Once payment is received, I will ship the artwork within 3-5 business days. If that is a problem or you require it sooner, please contact me and we can discuss sooner shipment. I will ship to the address on the Paypal receipt unless otherwise specified.

My shipping fees may seem high on first glance because it's an estimate. I want to be sure to package each painting well so it is more than adequately protected. The cost of shipping each package will vary so I may be able to refund back a portion when I know the true cost.
