Description

Crocus Grouping with Snail, ORIGINAL watercolor painting by Christy Sheeler

8 x 10 on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

Packaged with ivory double mat and protective cellophane sleeve. Shipping packaging includes foam board and cardboard to prevent damage in transit.
Frame and glass not included.

This group of five crocus has a little snail shell included in the arrangement. The crocus is one of the early spring wildflowers of the Rocky Mountains of Montana. They have the courage and the strength to bloom while the snow flurries are still possible. The sketch began with a large reference file of photos. I chose five to draw as if they are all blooming together.

The snail shell was drawn in to show part of the natural surroundings. The tall grasses were painted first and then masked to keep protected. The background was painted in next with wet washes on wet paper and a pinch of salt added for its unique effect. Pale washes were built in each area and more washes added to bring out rich, vibrant color. Areas facing the sun are lightened with careful scrubbing and lifting in later stages. Scrubbing and lifting was used to suggest the soft fuzz on the stems and petals as well.

Returns & exchanges

If for some reason there would be damage in transit, please contact me and we will work together to take care of the situation.

Shipping policies

My work is shipped by USPS, packaged carefully with foam board and cardboard to prevent bending or other damage while in transit. Insurance included. Once payment is received, I will ship the artwork within 3-5 business days. If that is a problem or you require it sooner, please contact me and we can discuss sooner shipment. I will ship to the address on the Paypal receipt unless otherwise specified.

My shipping fees may seem high on first glance because it's an estimate. I want to be sure to package each painting well so it is more than adequately protected. The cost of shipping each package will vary so I may be able to refund back a portion when I know the true cost.

Additional policies

In purchasing original artwork, the reproduction and copyright remains the property of the artist. Purchasing artwork does not carry the right to make copies in any form without the permission of the artist.
