Description

Add a touch of Tibetan Buddhist iconography to your home with this stunning antique 10” by 11.75” Bhavacakra — or Wheel of Life, as it’s more commonly known — copper wall plaque dating to the late 19th Century that features extremely detailed hand-hammered and engraved designs with six brass overlays.

The exquisite repousse wall hanging is one of three that hailed from the estate of a Mantua, Ohio, antiques collector/dealer who had it packed away in his rural countryside barn for decades. The piece has darkened over the years to create a beautiful aged patina that includes a bluish-green tarnish on the brass deity overlay at top right. (I did not attempt a cleaning of any sort, leaving that decision up to its new owner!)

This devotional temple/meditation plaque is in excellent antique condition, with only a few slight edge/corner bends to note. The artist was obviously highly skilled, as the only pinholes that can be seen when the plaque is held up to a light are where the brass overlays are affixed through the back side. The original brass hanging ring remains attached at the top.

The classical “Wheel of Life” yantra or mandala from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition depicts the psychological states, or realms of existence, associated with the unenlightened state. The bhavacakra is a symbolic representation of cyclic existence that is painted on the outside walls of Tibetan Buddhist temples and monasteries in the Indo-Tibetan region.

This stunning antique will be carefully packed and shipped — fully insured and with tracking — via USPS Priority Mail Service. Please let me know if you'd like to add signature confirmation.

I value great customer service — as both a buyer and a seller — and am committed to doing all I can to fix any issue that may arise. If the issue is anything other than a listing inaccuracy, you will be refunded the value of the item only (not the original or return shipping costs), minus a 20% restocking fee.

If by unfortunate chance your item arrives damaged due to shipper mistreatment, contact me within 24 hours of delivery. You’ll need to retain the item, shipping label, box, all interior packaging and take photos of the damaged item. A damage claim can't be filed without these items!

Shipping policies

Your item will be packaged with utmost care, using clean recycled items like bubble wrap and boxes when possible. Doing so reduces shipping costs and pleases Mother Nature. I’m confident you’ll be pleased when your package arrives!

I charge only actual shipping fees using primarily U.S. Post Office Priority Mail service, which has proven to be speedy and reliable (and automatically includes tracking and insurance up to $100). Large, heavy items are typically shipped via FedEx Home Delivery service.

Know that I have a great track record for getting orders shipped out within one business day (oftentimes within hours!) of payment confirmation.

If you’d like me to use a faster shipping service, a cheaper shipping method, to add insurance or arrange for signature confirmation please just convo me prior to shipping and I’ll gladly recalculate costs!

And combined shipping? For sure! If you don't convo me before buying, no problem: I promptly issue refunds for shipping overages of $2 and up.

All listed shipping prices are for the contiguous United States. Please convo for rates to Alaska, Hawaii and international destinations prior to purchase. Please bear in mind that international buyers are responsible for all customs duties, taxes, levies or fees — and that the shop is not responsible for delays due to customs.
