This stylish abstract design dish is by the increasingly sought-after potter, Eric Leaper, who produced "splash" design ware like this from his own pottery in Newlyn from 1954 through to the end of the 1970s - though his most successful era was the 1960s.

You can find out more about him here - http://www.studiopottery.com/cgi-bin/mp.cgi?item=32

Unique mid-century pieces like this are not easy to find - and Leaper's work has a pleasing resonance with the work of the celebrated St Ives painters who lived and worked in Cornwall in the 1960s.

This dish is in very good condition for its age - with no chips, but some discolouration to the base - see photos.

It measures approximately 35.5 cm x 21 cm x 2 cm, and weighs 885g.
