Description

Time for me to part with this instead of keeping it in storage. It should belong to someone who wants to wear it in front of their friends. I've loved this shirt and taken very good care of it. The colors are still vivid.

Authentic SIMPSONS crew bowling shirt. Distributed premier night of THE SIMPSONS TV series at the real Barney's Bowlarama.

Go ahead and have a cow!

BACKGROUND:
A favorite thing about being the first to sculpt THE SIMPSONS is remembering how Matt Groaning was much more excited about drawing pictures on the envelope answer to a local school's fan letters than going over the final sculptures. I can't remember how I heard of the job, but the loudest buzz around town was how Tracy Ullman's animated interstitials were in the process of becoming an animated series. When asked what I was working on during my interview at Jesco Toys, I drew a picture of Ursula the Sea Witch from memory for the guy to take home to his kids. That had nothing to do with sculpting, but it got me the job. Nobody knew how the currently flat characters would look like sculpted and we're all fortunate nobody paid much attention to my suggestion of cookie cutter type toys. I remember Matt was just getting over a bad head cold, the first time he came to see the sculpted pieces and his seeming inability to stop laughing at them meant much more to me than any nitpicking toward completion. The premier was held at Barney's Bowlarama where they gave us these shirts and had TV's set up on each lane. I loved, loved, LOVED how very quiet it seemed outside on the morning after I first met Matt Groaning. I had been very impressed to see an original drawing by him inside the front cover of his early LIFE IN HELL books at Book Soup. That morning, as I watched him drive away in a much less than special car, it couldn't have been more obvious that something wonderful was about to come in to being.

Glass from the Smiler's car, dirt from the Big W...lots of actual film history in this cool, quirky, fun item! And designed and created by legendary artist and future Disney Legend Dave Woodman! Thanks Dave! I LOVE it!
