I have had a lot of people ask "how I cut into those tiny corners" and the answer is I don't. I cut as close as I can without over cutting. Then once it is mounted to matte board, I use a jewelers file to remove the unwanted papers. I make these just as I do my puppets and there is more info on my blog. Just look for the "Basic Theater Instructions" link and follow the directions for the puppets.
Although you can use these for many things like many of my images, I designed these just for this project.
If you would like to make a project like mine they will look best if you start by printing it on brochure paper or matte finish photo paper, although you can print this on any paper.
Then use spray glue to attach it to a light weight matte board... You can purchase light weight gift boxes at your local dollar store or just use a cereal box, they work great.
Cut it out I have had a lot of people ask "how I cut into those tiny corners" and the answer is I don't. I cut as close as I can without over cutting. Then once it is mounted to matte board, I use a jewelers file to remove the unwanted papers.and sand the edges with a emery board.
This will eliminate scissor peaks from repositioning the scissors. You can also dress up the sides with a marker, I would suggest a light grey for the dress section and a light tan for the rest. Shoe polish edging gives it a professional manufactured store bought die-cut look.
At this point they look great as is however, I included a sheet of the little bits and pieces to give the project a pop.
Just laminate them in the same way and layer on top of your paper puppets with the exception of Mr Skull's arm that wraps around the owl... it should not be on matte board because it gets too thick.
The little stands can be made with small wood molding or square dowels. Then just cut a slit into the wood with an xacto knife to put your little "Boogie" into it.
I did these in the same manor as I do my theater puppets and there is a more in depth tutorial on my blog http://alteredartifacts.blogspot.com
I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did!

Many of my items are or were created from Vintage prints. However they have been enhanced to print much clearer than the originals. The printing techniques were not so great so many times there were parts that did not print or they printed over the intended lines so I have repaired these as well. Also the original greetings have been removed so that you may add your own, all damage that they have received through the years have been repaired. Most if not all have been changed the percentage required to hold a new copyright.
The copyright you are purchasing is for hand made items only... So if you are printing the image and incorporating it into your artwork then that artwork is yours to sell. However the copyright does not apply to any mass produced printed products or digital reproductions and may not be included in any digital download of any kind. They my not be shared with friends or sold to a third party. I have spent many hours scanning and creating or digitally enhancing each one as I leave them in your charge please protect them.
