Description

Start with the warm, mild overdrive tones of the YellowJacket Overdrive. Then kick the nest and run like hell!

The Angry Hornet Overdrive is a “hairier”, angrier version of the YellowJacket Overdrive. While it’s still a mild overdrive pedal, the Angry Hornet has a tone that is a bit more “modern”: it’s tighter, slightly more compressed, and with more available gain and treble in the circuit. If the YellowJacket is a well-used, vintage tube combo amp with a worn-out speaker, then the Angry Hornet is that same old combo with high gain preamp tubes and a shiny new speaker!

The Volume knob controls the overall output level of the pedal without changing the amount of overdrive. The Overdrive knob controls the amount of drive, harmonics, and overtones simultaneously. Starting from 12 o’clock on the EQ control, turning it clockwise adds treble to the tone. Turning the EQ knob counterclockwise from 12 o’clock boosts the lows and increases the saturation of the drive interactively with the Overdrive knob. For the ultimate “dimed” combo amp sound, turn the EQ control fully counterclockwise and the Overdrive knob all the way up.

The Angry Hornet will operate between 5V-15V; the more voltage you give it, the more clean headroom is available.

Each and every RocketSquawk pedal is soldered, wired, assembled, and finished by hand in Maine, USA.

Our hand-built pedals feature quality components from name-brand manufacturers, including:

- Xircon 1% metal film resistors
- Panasonic, Nichicon, WIMA, and Vishay Capacitors
- Genuine Fairchild transistors
- Neutrik jacks
- Sturdy, solid-core wire
- Unfinished bottom plates to help that Velcro stick!
- And other details you're sure to appreciate

And it should go without saying that all RocketSquawk pedals are wired for "True true-bypass" operation. There. We said it anyway.

I am a bit late with my review. I love this delay. It sounded weird on my N100 Noodle Pro. But when I paired it with a few other pedals, it made a huge sound difference. I like it a lot. Thanks for making one of my favorite pedals, Ricky. Hopefully you'll do more bass-y models in the future. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Shipping policies

At this time, I use USPS for shipping. (Hey, I live in a far-flung coastal town in Maine ... UPS and FedEx just aren't convenient.) I've got a great post office and have had excellent results shipping to all over the US.

From receipt of your order to shipping is usually 1-2 business days.

Additional policies

If an item is out of stock, I can still accept a custom order for that item. Generally, construction time is about 3-5 days.

All RocketSquawk pedals are wired, assembled, and finished by hand. From one pedal to the next, the parts used are generally consistent, but sometimes the reality of supply chains requires that I use different but comparable branded components. For example, sometimes I use a WIMA 0.22uf capacitor, sometimes I use a Vishay 0.22uf capacitor. As a tone-hound musician myself, I would never let a component choice taint the tone of a RocketSquawk pedal.
