Description

The Lexington Cemetery (http://lexcem.org/) is a beautiful, solemn location on Leestown Road in Lexington, Kentucky. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in town and is the final resting place of notables like Henry Clay and William "King" Solomon.

King Solomon was the town drunk who was sold for 18 cents as an indentured servant to "Aunt Charlotte", a free woman of color who sold homemade baked goods. When cholera came to Lexington, King Solomon tirelessly dug graves for the deceased, even as most of the residents fled the city in fear. He was hailed as a hero and is now buried in the Lexington Cemetery, his gravestone reading "A ROYAL HEART".

My own ancestors are buried there and I may end up there myself! MEANWHILE, let's color! Halloween is coming up and that means the creepy crawlies are out. Most of the spiders were shy about having their picture taken but one made it into the coloring book...see if you can find it!

Lexington Cemetery Coloring Book, just in time for your Halloween party. 19 pages in the pdf, ready for you to print out and color with your best gravestone greys.

And remember....

Once I stood where thou dost now,
And viewed the dead as thou dost me,
Ere long thou'lt lie as low as I
And others stand and look on thee.
