Description

BEADS, FAUX IVORY, Hand Carved Bone Beads, Jali Carved, #7237-13mm Barrel, with Punch Holes, 42” Long, Faux Ivory Rope, Vintage Beads, Ethnic Beads, Loose Beads, Boho, Gypsy, Supplies

International trade in Asian Elephant Ivory was banned in 1975 when the Asian elephant was placed on Appendix One of the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). At that time skilled Ivory Carvers in India began to copy the Ancient Antique Ivory beads in Bone. This Rope is 42" of Bone Beads, Hand Carved by those Artisans in India, then dipped in Hydrogen Peroxide to achieve the look and lustre of Ivory. These beads were carved in the late 70s, they have now begun to develop the same luster as Ivory with age.

YOU can achieve the Natural Bone color by re-dyeing the beads in India or China Black Tea to reach your desired depth of color. Strung on 2 strands of 3/ply cotton thread. No closure lock. From the Honey Gamboge Collection in the late 70's. Suitable to wear as a necklace~ until you decide to Cut it Up!

These beads are from the inventory of Sample Beads we imported to our Design Studio in New York, so that sample models could be designed before we went to India to work with our Craftsmen. The supply of each bead style may vary, so confirmation is necessary before you place your order request~~~!
