Himalayan livelihood depends on shearing the hairs of native goats, and weaving it together into the beautiful finished product. We support their traditional lifestyle and recognize their beautiful craftsmanship as something to share with the world.

More about the HAND WEAVING ARTISTIC process:

We support the artisans who live in the remote regions of Kashmir in the Himalayan Mountains. Over the years the Kashmiri people adapted to rough terrain by refining and passing down through the generations the fine art of weaving, embroidering, carpet-weaving, papier mache, etc.

By offering work to these craftsmen, the cottage village flourishes and the ancient art of hand-looming and delicate embroidery work is not lost to modernization.

Unfazed by the scientific age, our pashmina shawls are hand spun the same way it has been done for centuries. The hairs are gathered from the Himalayan goat called Hircus, which lives at high altitudes, 12,000 to 14,000 feet high in the mountains.

The Pashmina is gathered by hand, stored and combed by nomadic herders. The threads are hand woven on hand looms over a silk wrap, which gives the fabric resilience. Once the fabric is loomed, each piece is hand dyed in open vats. It is then given to different craftsmen for hand-embroidery, beading and/or printing. The shawls are hand loomed in Nepal and India and are offered in a wide selection of vibrant colors.

We offer eco-friendly products – a completely “green” line of cashmere products. We insist in using only eco-friendly Azo-free dyes. All shipping packaging, shopping bags and tags for the company are made from recyclable materials. We believe that every step we take towards living a ‘greener’ life will help to the lower the carbon footprint the company leaves on the ecology.

The company prefers the painstaking process of ironing the individual shawls as opposed to the more modern techniques of electric iron press machines. In this way, we contribute toward the livelihood of the villagers who depend on the work. We believe it will support and fortify the ancient art of weaving and embroidery while rejuvenating while supporting these families financially. Your purchase helps us to keep this art from becoming extinct while providing much needed support to underdeveloped areas.

EXCHANGE AND RETURN POLICY FOR NEW SITE- 2008
Please be advised that we will cheerfully refund all items we sell, provided that the items are returned in the original packaging and in original/new condition. We must insist, however, that the products are returned within two (2) weeks of receipt. The reason for this is that cashmere/pashmina products are extremely delicate and vulnerable to the environment. Since we only sell new products we cannot accept return and exchanges on items that have been worn or subjected to household smells. If the item is returned after two (2) weeks to one (1) month of purchase, there will be a 20% restocking fee imposed, provided that the item is still in original/new condition. After one (1) month, we will not entertain exchange or return at all. Also be advised that under any circumstance, we do not accept any worn items back. In addition, the shipping/handling and gift wrapping charges are not refundable as these services are provided by a shipper and are immediately applied at the time of shipment. Please note that the customer pays for return postage and shipping charges are applied for all exchanges. We do not provide return labels; however, we suggest that all returns are insured as we cannot be responsible for lost or misdirected returns. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at (800) 783-1436. We work Monday to Friday from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, EST. When you mail back your exchange/return, please give the invoice number or a copy of the same and kindly indicate the reason for the return. If you paid by credit card, a credit will be issued and will appear on your billing statement. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted. Management reserves the right to reject returns if it appears that the items have been worn. In instances where returned goods are damaged or not in original condition, they will be shipped back at the customer's expense. For exchanges, there is only a fee for shipping charges incurred for the return item.
