Description

This necklace has the distinction of being black and white and red all over. It's one of my favorite palettes. It's full of contrast and life. And it took a very long time to create it--hence its name.

This was made with three strands of black waxed linen and I had to fight with it. These are always the hardest to give up and makes them so very one of a kind.

The focal bead is bone and reminds me of creation as well--with the vines and the subtle little cross in the middle. I love the red seed beads and the very contrast-y Pyrene shell beads (tiny sea snail), the fabulous antique tile pieces from Amsterdam, and the vintage handmade black and white seed beads from Ghana. It wouldn't be complete without the African bone tube beads so evocative of Africa. A few bits of antiqued copper and that's it for this one.

Wonderful jewelry guru, Susan Ray has a page on Facebook for members only for those who make jewelry called Crafting Jewelry. She edited the picture of this necklace and is using it as a banner for the group. I hope she doesn't mind the mention.

My little disclaimer has to do with the fact that colors and textures will vary from the photographs of them.

I'm thrilled you're looking at handmade items and purchasing them for your own keepsakes.

Kindest regards,

Suzie
