A rare and lovely hydrosol. Deliciously earthy, fresh Indian Vetivert Hydrosol. This is handmade in central India by local villagers using primitive methods. The result is a lovely, naturally made product with the deep, earthy, nutty, and slightly smoky characters it's known for.

It can be used directly on the skin (a patch test is recommended first), spritzed in a room, or on a pillow.

Vetiver is famous all over the Indian Subcontinent. People may not understand it since many of them are unfamiliar with this name. Instead, it is popularly known as “Khus” or “Khus-Khus” and it is extensively used in perfumes, food, and beverage industries.

The botanical name of vetiver is Vetiveria zizanoides or Andropogon muricatus. This grass has a very pleasant, mild, earthy, and musky smell, which has a cooling effect on the body and the mind. The dried grass and its roots are used to thatch the side panels of the water-based room and window coolers since they cool and add fragrance to the moist air.

Hydrosol is the aromatic water left behind after essential oil distillation. It has a light scent, and because the dilution is very low, it's excellent for skin application. It can be sprayed on the face and decollate for refreshments any time of the day! It is also a lovely refresh in hot weather. A spritz or two around the head can have an excellent cooling effect. This hydrosol has no preservatives or added fragrance.
