the stone.

Ammolite is a rare and valuable opal-like organic gemstone found primarily along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains of the United States and Canada. It is made of the fossilized shells of ammonites, which in turn are composed primarily of aragonite, the same mineral that makes up nacreous pearls. The first people to collect ammolite were the Blackfoot Indians, who called it iniskim, or buffalo stone, and for many generations have considered it to bring luck and hold spiritual qualities. This ammolite cabochon is a doublet, meaning it has a quartz cap over the thin layer of ammolite, to protect it from flaking.

A very unique stone ring.
