I make custom headboards, king size headboards, queen size headboards, and wooden headboards with custom carved landscapes and wildlife. The attached images show a king size, knotty pine headboard, with an elaborate carved scene of the Sierra Mountain ranges. Matching footboard, matress platform and rails. If you are seeking a one of a kind hand carved headboard for your home or cabin, then please consider Lazy River Studio. To see more of my carving, please visit my Etsy page at www.lazyriverstudio.etsy.com

The starting price is $4000. This includes the headboard, a smaller carved area on the headboard, and the posts. $4800 for a larger carved area (a carved scene that spans the entire width of the headboard). Headboards are approx 3" thick and solid wood. The posts are also solid wood and substantial. Matching foot board will be in the range of $2000 - $3000. $2000 for 1.5" thickness foot board and no carving. $2500 for 1.5" thickness and small carving. $3000 for 3" thickness and a small carving. The posts on the footboard will match the headboard. The side rails and platform for the matress will be included. Additionally included: I design all the furniture I make. I will ask a few questions about your preferences for customization... Example, do you have a box spring, what height would you like your bed, etc. When I collect this info, I will create a scaled drawings of your bed along with a mock up of the carved art. The mock up art is not hand drawn. It is generated using digital clipart and images from the web. Often times, a customer will have pictures they would like me to incorporate. I will not proceed with production until your drawings / mock up is approved by yourself. So you will have a part of the design process and will have a pretty good idea of how the bed (there will be some variance from mock up to finished product of course).

These beds are made from knotty pine. They can be stained and painted to different brown tones. I can also add color. I seal with an interior polyurethane. Cedar is an upgrade option and will typically increase price approx 20%.

As for the carving, I carve landscapes and wildlife. Typically there is a background with less detailed carving, a mid background, and a more detailed foreground. Any concepts are carvable. If I think I cant carve it or am not confident, I will certainly let you know.

Shipping of beds are by freight. If going to a residence, it will be approx $100 more compared to a business with a loading dock. Shipping will vary from approx $400-$800. The bed will require some assembly. You will want a friend with some basic handyman skills. Beds are heavy, so you will need to factor this when choosing your friend.

Timeline for a project like this would be approx 2-3 months from deposit to completion.

If interested in proceeding, the next step is a formal quote. I will need:
Shipping location?
King or queen?
General concept for the headboard carving?
General concept for the footboard carving, if applicable?
Additional requests / details?
Any pictures, please attach.

Thanks much and please let me know if there are questions.
