Rainbows of subtle color decorate the surface of this piece. These hues were formed during the 30 minute period of cooling after the glowing pot was lifted with tongs from the hot kiln (at approx. 1000 degrees). This vessel (along with two other friends or so) was allowed to smolder in a lidded, metal trash can in my backyard. The can was filled with newspaper and leaves. Since the airflow was restricted, the glaze ingredients underwent chemical changes in what is called a reduction atmosphere. Every pot comes out with its own individual characteristic. Fascinating!

As with almost all raku-fired pottery, this stoneware bowl is intended for aesthetic enjoyment and not for food.

Approx. 8 x 3 and 1/2 inches.

All Illyria pottery is lead-free.

NOTE: The shipping rates listed below might be higher then what is actually needed to ship to your area. If you would like an exact shipping rate for your location, please send me a message including your zip/postal code. If you decide you would like to purchase, I will change the shipping rate and piece's title to a "special order for (your shop name)" (reserving it for you). Then you can purchase. Please note that sending the message does not reserve an item for you. Packages shipped within the US are fully insured. Insurance can be added upon request to oversea packages for an additional charge.
