Maidenhair fern grown on the banks of the rivers in south texas where my mother's family is from. We used to pick it when we visited for family reunions. Now I grow it in my backyard, it still looks lovely with the dark stem and the bright delicate leaves.

Printed 4 color on a Vandercook 4 letterpress on Cranes Lettra 110 Flourescent White 100% cotton paper.

Size is 7 5/8" wide by 18" tall.

The flower series was created by photographing the bottle then manipulating in photoshop. The flowers/fern were photographed, then each layer or color was hand drawn on tissue paper so I could see the other layers beneath for registering of colors.
Then photopolymer plates made of each color, then printed on a Vandercook 4 letterpress. There are 4 overlapping colors in this image.

Each print is signed and numbered. This is an edition of 109 prints.

The Vandercook press is from the 50's. The letterpress form of printing presses into the paper as it prints creating a wonderful three dimensional effect.

Shipped flat, well protected by heavy cardboard.
