Description

With this clever scarf knitting pattern you can knit an adjustable scarf that can be fine-tuned so it’s perfect every time! Each time you wear it you can change the look by adjusting the relative lengths of the loop and tail. So many different ways to wear this adjustable scarf! The pattern calls for dk weight yarn and is scrumptious in Malabrigo Silky Merino. The knitting is easy, but keeps you interested with integrated i-cord edges that merge for a seamless and tidy point. Classy enough for the office or the symphony!

This design is suitable for knitters who can knit, purl, increase, decrease, and who are interested in learning some new techniques. Integrated i-cord, a provisional cast-on, and both garter stitch and stockinette stitch grafting are explained in the pattern. The pattern is four pages long and has been test knit and professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors.

THIS IS A KNITTING PATTERN PDF - NOT A KNITTED ITEM. You will receive an instant PDF download via Etsy. This pattern is not currently available in hard copy on Etsy. Due to the nature of PDFs, they cannot be returned for refunds.

Finished Measurements:The sample shown measures 5 in/ 12.5 cm wide by 45 in/ 114.5 cm long after blocking.

Gauge:(Gauge is not critical in this project, but a different gauge will give a different size scarf.)
Working gauge (before washing) = 18 sts and 30 rows/ 4in/ 10cm over scarf body stitch pattern with larger needles.
Final Gauge (after washing) = 21 sts and 26 rows/ 4 in/ 10cm. Note that, in this yarn, the scarf will shrink in width and grow in length approx. 10% with washing. To get a 45 in/ 114.5 cm scarf I knit 40 1/2 in/ 103 cm long.

What You Need:

Malabrigo Silky Merino (51% silk, 49% merino; 150 yds/ 137 m per 1.76 oz/ 50 g skein); 2 skeins. Shown in color 413 - “Ankara Green”. Note that exact yardage will depend on length knit. A 45 in/ 114.5 cm scarf takes approx. 200 yds/ 185m. A single skein will knit a scarf approx. 33 in/ 84 cm long.

1 pair of straight knitting needles in size required to obtain gauge. I used US #6/ 4mm. You may need needles a size or two larger or smaller.

Optional: one spare dpn in same size as above to use for grafting i- cord.

1 pair of dpns about 4 US sizes smaller than above. I used US #2/ 2.75mm.

1 crochet hook approx. size D for provisional cast-on.

Approx. 1 yd/ 1m smooth scrap yarn for provisional CO.
