Description

The Panare Indians live in the Amazonian region of Venezuela. While Western culture has had a moderate influence on other tribes of the region, the Panare retain much of their culture and tradition, resembling that of the North American Indians in the late 1800s and the early 1900s. They reside primarily in the Guiana Highlands and are semi-nomadic. They belong to the carib linguistic family. They trade metal tools and curare with the Hoti for the bamboo from which the inner tube of the blowgun used for hunting is made. the Panare live close to a savanna region and have occasional contact with the Venezuelan population in exchange for metal tools. These natives utilize the slash and burn agriculture method. They are well known for their hunting abilities.
They have a great deal in common with the Piaroa natives as far as their spiritual belief system and practices.
The prayer stamps are made to be used like tattoos for specific purposes mainly of hunting or fishing. The stamps are dipped in red or black natural pigments and applied to the body. Finely carved and profound images dominate these rare stamps. Rare is an understatement. This and all of the other stamps we are offering were collected by my family over 20 years ago while living close to these people and the Piaroa. The two tribes often interact. Many of the stamps we are offering have not been used and were obtained from the men who made them. Many of the meanings are obvious and other designs are a mystery to all but the artist. For more information on a particular stamp please write to us. These stamps are extremely rare and collectable. All are in excellent condition. Common designs include fish, jaguars, monkeys, crocodiles, deer, shaman spirits, sun, frogs, birds, boars, ancestor figures, large cats etc.

This is great! A friend of mine suggested a clay foot cleaner and this is the one I chose. It's easy to hold, large, and works well. Shipping was very quick too.
