TONE
Leather has a soft flexible feel making it very suitable for strumming and giving it a warmer tone. Leather is often used for Bass as it gives a Skin Tone whilst picking. Teak is a rather soft timber that will not brighten the tone of the bass guitar. Coconut husk is a mid hardness timber and may add some brightness to the tone. Clear horn is made from Keratin, the same material that tortoise shell is made from and as such is about as a good a material as you can find for Picks.
