Krampus is a goat-like creature with a long red tongue traditionally associated with St. Nicholas — however, this yuletide spirit predates the Christian era. The people of Europe's alpine regions had been marking the annual arrival of Krampus long before the concept of Christmas came along, and well before a certain former bishop of Turkey stole the spotlight. Traditionally, Krampus serves to punish naughty children by whipping them with switches or tossing them in icy rivers. Krampus is the “bad cop” to St. Nick's “good cop”.

This shirt uses the design James first created for a lantern carried during the first Krampuslauf Philadelphia in December 2011. The front features Krampus in silhouette with a naughty child in his basket. The back bears the traditional message of "Gruss vom Krampus" (Greetings from the Krampus). This is the only official version of this design being sold anywhere -- all other versions are unauthorized rip-offs, so accept no substitutes!

The shirts are a wonderfully soft cotton blend. The adult shirts are black, while the youth sizes are on a 'vintage black' - more like a charcoal grey. Sizes presently available are adult unisex XXXL, XXL, XL, L, M, S, and XS.


These are Next Level brand unisex shirts and are somewhat stretchy due to the blend. The measurements from center of collar to hem and across chest from armpit to armpit (laid flat) are as follows:
