Description

End of summer sale! Was $240, now $200. This is a matched Mexican cocobolo rosewood shave set with safety razor, stand and badger hair shaving brush. Wood pieces are cut from a single block. The brush has an inset of multi-coloured mookite jasper on its bottom. Please note you can select a Fusion razor for this set in place of the safety razor.

All wood pieces are cut and sanded on my lathe and by hand through 26 abrasive applications using grits from 120 to 12,000. I apply at least 30 coats of CA acrylic finish. After sanding, I polish pieces with white diamond and hand buff them. Glassy surfaces are hard, durable and waterproof.

Rare red cocobolo for this unique set was harvested from a Mexican rosewood tree (Dalbergia retusa). Cocobolo rosewood was once used for utensil handles as it can be left in water indefinitely without damage. I employ simple, elegant designs for the pieces so as to highlight the character and natural beauty of the wood.

Each shave set or shaving piece I make is an individual project, not part of a production run. This allows me to give full attention to the pieces you see. I use rare or unusual woods, but do not purchase any categorized as endangered in the Red Book or covered by CITES Appendix I (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species). Please note that Dalbergia retusa has recently been listed in the CITES Red Book as it has come under pressure from indiscriminate logging by big timber concerns. It may not now be legally shipped across borders. The cocobolo used for this razor is old stock and predates the listing.

Note about Facebook page

I regularly add both photos of Etsy items, and information about wood, on my small business Facebook page. Enter 'WolverineWood' into the search box at Facebook.com. You can also find information about custom-made and commissioned items at WolverineWood.

Note about shipping

I am able to ship to destinations outside of Canada. Postal rates are so complex and various for foreign destinations that it is impossible to list them all on Etsy. To receive accurate shipping costs and alternative shipping methods, please contact me. I will ensure you have an accurate and timely estimate for shipping.

Note about GST (in Canada only)

As a small business in Canada, I am required to collect 5% GST on items sold to Canadians. Please add $11.00 to the price of this item.
