Description

Hello:

I am loving this pretty, sweet tea cup and saucer by Tuscan China. It is a fine bone china made in England. The mark indicates that the item was made as early as 1947 and at the latest in 1967 when the mark changed.

The background of this lovely set is a very faint pink color, a color that the company referred to as "peach bloom". The flowers seem to be wild sweet peas, my own grandmother's favorite flower. She always planted them, my mother said, along the edges of her vegetable garden.

This is a footed tea cup. The base has three bands of gold, and the rims and handle are also trimmed in gold. The upper edge of the cup is ever so slightly scalloped. Inside the tea cup there is a small edging of a semi-circular pattern. The saucer edge is also scalloped, but more widely so than the tea cup edge.

Tuscan China was a family owned business founded by R.H. Plant in Staffordshire, Longton England. The factory was taken over by Wedgwood in 1967. At that time, the name changed to "Royal Tuscan".

The tea cup measures 3 inches tall with an opening diameter of 3 1/2 inches. The saucer is 5 5/8 inches in diameter. The saucer has a nice depth at 1 inch. The set is in good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is one little bump on the handle, as manufactured.

This would be so pretty in a collection of fine bone china tea cups. I saw no other pieces of this pattern on line. This tea cup is a pure confection.
