Description

A DIY himmeli kit, made in Latvia with local reeds.

WHAT IS A HIMMELI? (taken from back of the box)
The himmeli is a kinetic interior decoration object made of reed straws. Originating in northern europe, it has many names. In Latvia It’s called “puzurs”. The name “himmeli” comes from a germanic word for sky.
It has this name because it’s believed to be a model of the universe overhead and the slow spinning of a himmeli represents celestial motion.
Himmeli are also believed to tidy up energies in a room and a lack of motion indicates negative energy or evil spirits.
Folk tales aside, it’s an exceptional mobile for interior decoration and those made from reed have a very homely quality. Himmeli are usually made at christmas time for a festive mood. Join the tradition and keep it alive!

A himmeli makes a great gift for anyone during the autumn-winter period because it's one of the decorations meant to combat gloom during those times. Making them is also a christmas tradition in parts of the world so why not try something new yourself and bring a bit of extra holiday atmosphere to the house!

THE KIT CONTAINS:
-182 reed straws cut to lengths & cleaned;
-Illustrated manual in two languages (latvian and english);
-Thread and needle (not sharp).

The size of the box is 16.5x26.5x4.5cm (6.5x10.5x1.8'')

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
Direct checkout is the way to go but I also accept paypal payments and if you live nearby - cash.

Returns & exchanges

I do not cover the expenses of returning an item. If there is any damage or issue, contact me immediately within 3 days after receiving your order and we will agree on a course of action that satisfies you. After that the refund/exchange time limit is 14 days (not including the time it takes for you to mail it back to me).

Regardless of all that I'm very interested in you having a pleasant experience interacting with my shop no matter what so, within reason, I'll be flexible and forthcoming of course - don't worry!

I do not offer refund or possibility of exchange if the item you ordered does not suit your intent visually in combination with something else. (for example if my drawing doesn't look as good in your room as you expected it to).

Shipping policies

I send almost all packages with the national mail (Latvijas pasts). All items get tracked. If you want, i'll provide you with a scan of the receipt from the post office. You're eligible for a full refund in the event of a non-delivery.
Seeing how mail tends to be delayed, depending on where a purchase needs to be sent, i cannot guarantee that it will arrive on an exact date for instance in time for someones birthday but i will do the best i can on my part.

A frequently asked question:
Q: How long does it take to receive something in the US?
A: About a week for most items.

I should note that due to the nature/size of some items (non-deconstructable himmelis), you may see that the shipping costs are rather high. Well I agree but those are the prices of the only reliable services (DHL, TNT) available to me so if you have a better idea on how to make the item reach you for less money, I'm all ears.

Additional policies

I will not change my policy unless i see fit and will take no responsibility for you not fully reading it. If there is something you do not understand, contact me.

FAQ

--- Who is the author of all this?
Dāvids Ektermanis, an artist from Riga, Latvia.

--- Will you draw something pretty for me?
Sure, but i will do it in my own style and it may take a long time, also you have to be genuinely interested in purchasing it when i'm done.

--- Will you carve something for me?
Sure, but i'm not all that big on sculpting so this mostly applies to a cigarette holder, spoon or your design or magic wands.

--- There's an item out of stock but I really like it, how do I get one?
A large part of my stock is unique so once a crafted item is sold, it's gone but if you see something you like that's no longer available, just message me and I'll make something similar.

--- What's your favourite type of ice cream?
Something fruity, like lemon.
