Materials: coal, carbon, bituminous coal
*STOCK ALERT* I am out of Large and X-Large Pieces (7+ inches) and Medium sizes (4-6") are dwindling. I do not know if I will be able to replenish stock before the holidays. If you would like some larger pieces or want to buy in quantity, please send me a message. If demand is high enough, I can make another 'gathering' expedition!
== About ==
You are looking at *Genuine* Kentucky coal fragments sourced from the Eastern KY coalfields. Not only do these pieces make for a fun gag gift, they also are historical artifacts. From the origin of the coal itself (formed from millions of years of pressure and prehistoric organic matter), to the massive role that eastern Kentucky coal played in bringing the United States into the electric industrial age. As the mines have closed and the world slowly shifts to more sustainable and cleaner energy sources, the coal remains, as it has been and always will be - Kentucky proud.

== Item Specifics ==
Sold on a per piece basis - If you are interested in buying a LARGE quantity, please ask and I will make a custom listing that will reflect your needs.
Pieces are sold as general dimensions - you are guaranteed the minimum length on at least one side with the size purchased - see photos for example size classes.
Every piece is unique, and often have small imperfections and impurities and well as uneven shapes - this is the 'raw' product straight from the ground, with no processing or refining.
Shipping may not be accurate for large orders - The calculated shipping factors in average weight for each 'piece' across the board. It is more economical to offer flat rate USPS shipping for the largest orders. Please contact if you are thinking about a large purchase so an ideal rate can be calculated!
There was a problem calculating your shipping. Please try again.

Thank you MineJunk! This specimen is huge and nice and heavy! It's just perfect for large company party this Thursday! Thank you for shipping to me so quickly! I'll call in you next year when I need more perfect "lumps of coal". All the best to you!
Very disappointed. What I had hoped to receive for my $20 (including shipping) was a medium sized rock (lump of coal). Instead what I received a piece of tile - 3/4" at it's widest point by the absolute minimum: 4". I would have been better off $7 for one of those little baggies that say "lump of coal" on them. I could of ditched the bag and loaded up my little box with the chunks of coal. At least the Since this looks Iike a tile, it won't be clear what the recipient has received.
I was expecting a bigger chunk like in the pictures but got a flat piece.
Exactly what I wanted!
