1950s CALIFORNIA MADE CERAMIC SERVING DISH
(Before you purchase this item, please be sure to scroll down and read the full description/condition report below the story)

Thanksgiving dinner was not complete unless Grandma Edith graced the table with her bright orange California ceramic serving dish piled high with mountains of jumbo black olives. There was just something about the splendor of the presentation that made the simple briny treats appear as if an uncommon delicacy, even though just minutes before they were in a can in the pantry. Perhaps, subliminally, the multitude of olives was a metaphor representing an abundant harvest. Or perhaps, it was that one day of the year on which children (and some adults who wouldn't admit to it) were allowed to throw out social mores and stick the black beauties on the end or their fingers and eat them off one by one.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:
For sale is a beautiful ceramic serving dish in all of its mid century splendor. This piece was made in California probably in the 1950s to early 1960s. It may be Santa Anita ware but the maker's mark is not on it however it does have pattern # T15 marked on the bottom. It is pumpkin orange and stands 10.5" tall and is 9.5" in diameter. The handle is made of gold-tone metal. A wonderful dish for a retro-themed dinner party, would also make a fun candy dish or dresser top catch-all.

This bowl is in very good used, vintage condition with a shiny glaze and no chips, cracks or evidence of repairs. The metal handle is in good shape and free of rust.
