This WWII era 1940s crepe backed satin dress was originally worn by Lannie Hurst a local Portland, Oregon actress and friend of my Mother's who was instrumental in saving The Old Church in the 1960s. Find out more about her and a gallery of photos of this ensemble here:

This dress feels rich and drapes beautifully. Loosely cut cap sleeve bodice is darted in front with tucks in the back. Four gore skirt is pleated at center front. Back panels gather into the pleats at each side of the hip front. Closes at center back with metal zipper topped with a hook and thread eye. Comes with ombre cream and chocolate ostrich feather head piece. Three long feathers were stitched together and curved to create this piece.

Measurements
I try not to pin clothing on models, but prefer instead to show you my garments on people they actually fit. Our charming model, Kristen's measurements at the time of this shoot were 35-27-41 and she stands 5'11" tall and is quite long in the waist. It was a little loose in the waist on her.
-Bust: 38" (may be able to fit slightly more)
-Waist: 28"
-Hip: 40" at 7" below the waist. The hip measurement is pretty free below there.
-Length from shoulder to waist: 17"
-Length from waist to hem: 31"
-Skirt sweep: 100"

Condition
Good to Very Good condition rating a 6.5 (maybe a 7) out of 10. The most notable flaw is several tiny snags, scuffs and spots throughout this dress. The three worst sections are shown in the last photo. This is most noticeable in the bodice as everything gets lost in the loose skirt. You will find small snags and scuffs on front and back of bodice with pulling from the handstitched facing around the collar. Darts were let out in back and could be taken in making this it's original 26" waist size. Lannie wore this on many occasions after it played the part of her wedding dress. It is likely she let it out at some time. Feather crown is separated from the hat it was worn on (or with) in Lannie's wedding picture. It doesn't shed and is just bent in a few places. One small spot on back of shoulder above the underarm area. A few in front that I have a hard time telling what's a satin scuff and what's a stain. It's not perfect. Prepare yourself for that and you should be delighted with your purchase.
